I see beauty in the fall when everything is slowly dying and developing into mature shades of oranges and yellows. I see beauty in old building that nobody wants to go in because they are frightened by the thought of something decrepit. I find beauty in the way people laugh or sing to themselves in public unafraid of judgment. I adore the beauty in song makers and the risk and time it took to create a 3 minute piece of art that only few people may enjoy. I love the beauty of books and how descriptive a writer can make a novel so that you feel the exact emotion of the characters. I see beauty when actors can become friends in your mind. Friends that can make you laugh or cry at any moment. I see beauty in the ocean. The soft waves and deep blues of the water. The calm affect it just seems to radiate. I love seeing beauty in old photos hoping those people were truly happy to be there at that moment. I see beauty in my sister and how you know her kids are what she lives for and that is simply enough for her. I find beauty in the way people’s minds work. Friendship is easy to find beauty in as that is what a friendship should be: beautiful. I think it’s beautiful the way birds fly south for the winter, keeping the shape of a V making sure none of them get left behind. I feel beauty in mamihlapinatapai, the look shared by two people wishing that one would do something they both desire, but neither wants to start. I see beauty in the way people make a house a home, adding their own touches to an empty space to create a warm environment.

If beauty is measured in looks though, I don’t it should be by the number on the scale or what brand of clothing you own and how much it costs. I think beauty in looks is how your braid is perfectly placed against your neck or how most boys look good in stripes. Who’s going to say “I will only be friends with you if you own Vera Bradley?” If they do say that, then don’t waste your time on someone who can only see beauty on the outside of people. Beauty should know no definition, but that you think something, someone is pretty. Flaws are beautiful and that’s how everyone should see it. I think we can only hope to turn in marvelous colors in the autumn and make our houses into homes. Just to know that beauty is seen in all different angles is enough for me.
